Discovery Montessori School was founded in 1987 and is an independent, coeducational day school dedicated to the highest quality education for children, from age 3 through middle school, according to the values and principles of the Montessori philosophy. Our community from the greater Akron area is committed to providing a Montessori education for their children and shares the core values of our community.
Four cornerstone multi-age programs are offered:
Toddler (through three years)
Primary (through kindergarten)
Elementary (through fifth grade)
Middle School (through sixth grade)
Enriching before and after-school offerings and stimulating summer programs are also offered.
In March 2022, the organization was transferred to Fairlawn- Heights Montessori School, maintaining prior staff, student enrollment, operations, and Leadership.
With over 37 years of service to the greater Akron area. Fairlawn-Heights Discovery Montessori is an authentic Montessori institution, true to the values and mission of a Montessori education and 21st century best practices of education.

Practices: To use Dr. Maria Montessori’s teaching principles and method to encourage experimental interaction of the child with his/her classroom that promotes healthy brain development. To give the ability to achieve self-confidence, independence, development of character, personality strengths, problem-solving skills, self-expression, and formulate opinions to help reach his/her full potential. We emphasize development using concepts of peaceful learning and conflict resolution skills promoting students to develop a sense of duty and stewardship towards their community.
